God's Response to Depression
What does God say to someone who is depressed, anxious, or struggling to keep going?
Despite what you may have heard, he doesn't say:
Have more faith.
Why don’t you trust me?
Get it together.
Do more.
How’s your prayer life?
If you've ever been told these things, please hear me. That’s not how God speaks.
In one of Jeremiah’s lowest moments, he’s honest about his pain. There’s no strength left to impress anyone. And God doesn’t respond with correction or challenge. He responds with care.
“I will take care of you, Jeremiah.” (Jeremiah 15:11)
No conditions. No to-do's. Just a promise.
There’s a difference between the voice that tells you to get yourself together and the voice of God. One adds weight. The other carries it.
If you’re in a hard place right now, the Lord's promise is clear. He will take care of you.
